Why
the Upanishads?
The Upanishads are the
flowering of the Indian
Spiritual tradition. One
of the fascinating
features of the Upanishads
is their love and fearless
quest of Truth. The spirit
of enquiry which possessed
the Upanishadic Rishis led
them to fearlessly
question even their gods
and tenets of their
traditional faiths in the
light of reasoning. They
discovered very early in
history the difference
between opinion and Truth.
Paying encomium to the
Upanishads, the great
thinker Schopenhauer says,
“In the whole world
there is no study so
beneficial and so
elevating as that of the
Upanishads. It has been
the solace of my life; it
will be the solace of my
death.” Texts and Course

to enter the Upanishad

and scholarship, in a
