Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda envisioned CIF to be the research wing of Chinmaya Mission. Shruti Sagara is a permanent fund created to build a corpus fund for research at CIF in Sanskrit and other fields of Indic Knowledge Systems. Throughout the year, CIF conducts long and short courses to promote Sanskrit, the Divine Language, among the pundit and public alike.
CIF is recognised as a Research Centre for Sanskrit and Indic Studies by Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala. CIF is recognised by the Central Sanskrit University (Central University established under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India), New Delhi, as a Shodha Sansthan (Centre for Sanskrit Research). The CIF Shodha Sansthan (CIFSS) aims at supporting traditional Sanskrit learning and research.
Through all these ventures, CIF contributes towards popularising Sanskrit and other branches of Indian Knowledge Traditions (IKT). Regular seminars, conferences, workshops and competitions based on various topics related to Sanskrit are hosted by CIFSS for both subject experts and novices, including school children. CIF, through its many projects, is bound to create eminent scholars in the field of Sanskrit research.
