Mahidasa who was denied the privilege of sitting in the lap of his father became sad, Itara, his mother (of the other community as name suggests) prayed to her Ista Devata, i.e., Goddess Earth who imparted unrivalled wisdom to Mahidasa. Thus, this to son of the soil (Mahidasa), Seer Aitareya, who attained Godhood later, this scripture was revealed. Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda unfolds the secrets of this Upanishad which provides cryptically the details of Brahman and the creation cycle. By the apavada technique (neti neti - negation) this Upanishad opens the door to that Supreme knowledge which liberates us.
