Sri Lakshmi Shobane Hadu and Thiruppavai (Webinar in Kannada)

The webinar covers two texts namely, Sri Lakshmi Shobane Hadu, which is a beautiful hymn in Kannada composed by Sri Vadiraja Thirtha Swamigalu and Thiruppavai, a Tamil devotional poem of 30 stanzas (pasurams) in praise of Thirumal, a manifestation of Lord Vishnu. This webinar in Kannada is facilitated by Girija, a CIF Sevika.

Sri Lakshmi Shobane Hadu:

  • A beautiful hymn in Kannada, composed by Sri Vadiraja Thirtha Swamigalu, one of the most acclaimed saints of Karnataka
  • Describes the marriage of Goddess Lakshmi to Lord Sri Hari in 112 verses
  • Brings in the union of hearts, peace, prosperity and auspiciousness at the place of recitation and listening

Thiruppavai:

  • Tamil devotional poem of 30 stanzas (pasurams) in praise of Thirumal, a manifestation of Lord Vishnu
  • Attributed to the poetess - Saint Andal, also known as Nachiyar, Kodhai or Goda Devi, who assumes the guise of a cowherd girl
  • Gives a universal call for all to recite the names and glories of Lord Vishnu
  • Part of Divya Prabandha, a collection of works of the 12 Alvars, which is an important part of the devotional genre of Tamil literature

Course Facilitator:

Girija, CIF Sevika joined the 15th batch (2011-2013) of the Vedanta Course at Sandeepany Sadhanalaya, Mumbai. From 1996 – 2011, she served at Chinmaya Mission, Chennai, where she was conducting Balvihar classes and Devi groups, visiting schools and training children for Bhagavad Gita competitions. She had been training over 50,000 children every year under Swami Mitrananda, Chinmaya Mission Chennai.

She joined Chinmaya International Foundation in December 2013 and is presently serving at Home Study courses and CIF Publications and coordinating various camps at CIF. She takes regular classes for the staff at CIF. She facilitates the chanting webinar sessions of ‘Saundarya Lahari’ and ‘Stotras and Hymns'.
