Chinmaya International Foundation (CIF), Chinmaya International Foundation Shodha Sansthan (CIFSS) and Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram (KYM) have embarked upon celebrating the International Yoga Day by conducting a three-day national level conference from 30 June to 2 July 2023.
This conference Yoga as An Embodied Culture of Bharata endeavours
to present Yoga as subsumed in various cultural, religious and social practices
in India. Both the classical and the folk (tribal) forms of art such as dance,
music, painting, sculpture, martial arts, etc. exhibit various facets of Yoga.
Religious practices such as pilgrimage, observation of vows, community-oriented
festivals, etc. also incorporate the mental and physical practices of
Yoga. Simple daily practices like prayerful attitude in all activities
(karāgre vasate lakṣmī, etc.), how food is cooked, served and eaten, how one
takes a bath, how one decorates the courtyard with rangoli/kollams, etc. depict
that the very social life of an Indian is ingrained in the foundation of Yoga.
The conference strives to throw light upon the contribution of Yoga
towards various such socio-cultural and religious practices in India.
Papers will be
presented by students, scholars, artists, yoga practitioners on the following
themes:
● Yoga
