The Bhagavad Gita, the Lord’s song, is a dialogue between Lord Sri Krishna and Pandava Prince Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.
After having analysed the ‘tvam-pada’ in the first six chapters, the ‘tat-pada’ is explained from the seventh chapter (Jnana Vijnana Yoga) onwards. The Lord assures Arjuna that He will impart in its entirety this rare knowledge, knowing which nothing more needs to be known. He also imparts the technique of its practical application. After explaining ‘para-’ and ‘apara-prakriti’, the Lord states that He is everywhere, such that every thing and being is woven into Him. Briefly mentioning the three gunas in the prakriti and four types of bhaktas, the Lord narrates how one can reach Him through ‘eka bhakti’ – single pointed devotion.
