Bhagavad Gita Chapter 1

The Bhagavad Gita, the Lord’s song, is a dialogue between Lord Sri Krishna and Pandava Prince Arjuna on the battlefield
of Kurukshetra. The first chapter ‘Arjuna Vishada Yoga’, relates Arjuna’s feeling of utter dejection and despair as he faces the prospect of fighting his kith and kin. At Arjuna’s behest, Krishna, his charioteer, drives the chariot to the centre of the battlefield and parks it there to give Arjuna a clear view of the two armies lined up on either side of him. As he observes the best of warriors composed of elders, cousins, Gurus and others known to him, Arjuna is gripped by grief and delusion. Lord Krishna silently witnesses Arjuna’s fall as he blabbers and seemingly tries to justify his decision of not fighting and killing his own. This album contains discourses by Swami Advayananda, recorded in January-February 2022, during the Vedanta Sadhaka Course held in Adi Sankara Nilayam.
