Bhagavad Gita Chapter 4

The Bhagavad Gita, the Lord’s song, is a dialogue between Lord Sri Krishna and Pandava Prince Arjuna on

the battlefield of Kurukshetra.

Lord Krishna begins the fourth chapter, ‘Jnana Karma Sannyasa Yoga’, with an all out effort to bring home to Arjuna that he had been asserting the same old truth passed on over generations and nothing new. With an explanation on the ‘Avatara rahasya’, Bhagavan also states that worshipping Him in any form with faith will lead one to Him, whichever may be the path – Karma, Bhakti or Jnana. Further, he elaborates on how the duties are to be performed according to varna and ashrama, elaboration on the concepts of karma, akarma and vikarma, the knowledge of which is essential for performing Karma Yoga. The Lord also explains the lakshanas of a Yogi, the ultimate Knowledge and advises Arjuna to be equipped with the sword of knowledge to cut asunder the doubts born of ignorance.

This album contains discourses by Swami Advayananda, recorded in May-June 2022, during the Vedanta Sadhaka Course held in Adi Sankara Nilayam.
