Four Paths, One Goal: Upadesha Sara
Essence of Vedantic Wisdom in 30 Verses
‘Upadesa’ means teaching and ‘sara’ implies essence. The title, thus, means the essence of the teaching (of Vedanta). This beautiful composition, by Sri Ramana Maharshi, in thirty profound verses expounds the crux of the four paths to Realisation – karma-yoga, bhakti-yoga, ashtanga-yoga and jnana-yoga.
Upadesa Sara, originally addressed to yogins blindly following the path of purva-mimamsa, is relevant to every seeker to gain clarity on the path and effectively follow the guidance to reach the ultimate goal of Realisation. The unique direct method of enquiry into ‘Who am I?’, as advised by Sri Ramana Maharshi, is the highlight of the text.
