Guru and Guru Parampara Webinar

Guru is not merely a person but a Tattva – a living principle that dispels ignorance and reveals the Self. The Guru is one who leads the seeker from darkness to light. In the journey of Vedanta, a Guru is essential – not just for instruction, but for inner transformation. We cannot find a Guru through effort alone; when the seeker is truly ready, the Guru appears. The importance of surrendering to a Guru cannot be overstated, as only in surrender does the ego dissolve and learning begin.
This divine knowledge is preserved through Guru Parampara, an unbroken lineage of teachers who pass on the wisdom with purity and precision. Our tradition traces its roots through two main paramparas, and is part of the Dashanami Sampradaya established by Sri Adi Sankaracarya. We draw inspiration from the lives of great Gurus such as Sri Adi Sankara, Swami Sivananda, Swami Tapovan Maharaj, and Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda – whose legacy continues through Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda.
Hymns like the Guru Stotram and Totakashtakam express the disciple’s devotion and reverence, while fostering deep gratitude. Through the Guru’s grace, the vast and subtle truths of Vedanta become clear, guiding the seeker to peace, clarity, and Self-realisation.
