The Mandukya Upanishad is a treasured jewel of the Atharvaveda, renowned as the source of one of the four Mahavakyas – ayam atma brahma. Despite being the shortest of the ten principal Upanishads, with only 12 mantras, it encapsulates the essence of the entire Vedantic teachings.

This Upanishad delves into the full spectrum of human consciousness, analysing the three universally experienced states of waking, dream, and deep sleep. It unequivocally asserts that the ultimate Reality, known as ‘Turiya’ or the Fourth, is non-dual and beyond attributes.

The Mandukya Upanishad presents a unique approach to Truth by using the sacred monosyllable AUM as a meditative symbol, elaborating on its profound philosophical significance. According to the Muktikopanishad, Mandukya Upanishad alone is sufficient for attaining Liberation.

The revered Sri Gaudapadacharya, the Guru’s Guru of Sri Adi Shankaracharya, expounded on this Upanishad through his Karikas, divided into four chapters:
– Agama Prakarana: Exposition of Consciousness in waking, dream, and deep sleep states
– Vaitathya Prakarana: Demonstration of the illusory nature of the world of duality
– Advaita Prakarana: Establishment of non-duality through scripture and logic
– Alatashanti Prakarana: Propounds the theory of non-creation, refuting even the concept of a Creator

In this album, explore the Upanishad’s mantras and Gaudapada’s Karikas, along with the commentary (Bhashya) of Sri Adi Shankaracharya on both.

Album Highlights:
– Comprehensive study of the Mandukya Upanishad and Gaudapada Karika with Adi Shankaracharya’s commentary
– Exploration of AUM and the Mahavakya “ayam atma brahma”
– Analysis of waking, dream, and deep sleep states
– Examination of the illusory nature of waking and dream states
– Establishment of non-duality through scripture and logic
– Refutation of contradictory viewpoints

This album features discourses by Br. Ved Chaitanya, recorded at Adi Sankara Nilayam, during the webinar held from February to August 2024.
