Paninian Grammar is a lecture series aiming to facilitate the understanding of Paninian concepts in grammar. In a nutshell, this webinar aims at enlightening the students about certain central concepts in Paninian grammar.
More About the Webinar
This webinar is designed as a course of 6 capsules (or lectures), delivered as a dose of 1 capsule per day. Though very popular among the new generation, Paninian Grammar constraints its students due to its aphoristic style, brevity and complexity. This webinar equips its students with some centrally important concepts in Paninian grammar, even enabling them to explain how Sanskrit can become the perfect language for computers.
The first capsule narrates the biography of Panini and the efforts he made for data collection to compose his ‘Astadhyayi’. The second one focuses on the concepts which have made this grammar unique by surpassing all other earlier grammars in tradition. The third one is all about the interesting devices propounded by Panini, to explain those forms that are difficult to explain with his general rules, but are in use in common language. The fourth capsule talks about the Philosophy of language, through discussing Patanjali’s thoughts as well as theories and philosophies of Bhartrhari. The fifth one discusses modern concepts of text and context as well as their role in ascertaining the meaning of words (i.e. ‘Science of Interpretation’ or ‘Hermeneutics’). The last lecture is dedicated to various commentaries as a tool for understanding Paninian grammar.
