Verses 34 to 41

Saundarya Lahari is a devotional masterpiece of one hundred hymns composed by Sri Adi Sankaracharya. More than a literary work, it is a living doorway into shakti-centered devotion and inner transformation. This webinar gently opens that doorway, guiding seekers into the heart of the text through a careful study of its two complementary parts — the Ananda Lahari (verses 1–41) and the Saundarya Lahari (verses 42–100) — so that devotional feeling (shraddha) and contemplative practice may grow together.

The Ananda Lahari (Wave of Bliss) reveals the dynamic, energetic aspect of Brahman as Shakti. In these verses Adi Sankara maps the inner practices, meditative attitudes and subtle powers that prepare the seeker’s heart for direct experience. Studying this section equips the aspirant with a framework for inward enquiry and devotional receptivity.

The second section, the Saundarya Lahari (Wave of Beauty), unfolds a magnificent celebration of the Divine Mother’s charming and auspicious form. Composed in the shikharini metre, these hymns praise the outer and inner beauty of the Goddess while simultaneously supplying practical mantras, yantra references and meditative imagery used in traditional sadhana. Together the two parts move the devotee from contemplative preparedness into the joyful surrender of worship.

Swami Sharadananda Sarasvati, will illuminate the essence of selected verses, explicate their meaning in plain devotional language, and show how these timeless hymns can be applied in daily life to awaken bhakti, concentration and inner wellbeing.
