Valmiki Ramayana – Ayodhya Kanda

The story of Ramayana, the epic journey of Lord Rama, continues in the Ayodhya Kanda, narrating the scenes that set

the stage for the unfolding of the story, including the exchange between Dasaratha and Kaikeyi and the exile of Rama. It starts with the arrangement of His coronation as the Prince Regent of Ayodhya, but life with its strange twists and turns, sees him exiled in the forest for 14 years, joined by His wife Sita and younger brother Lakshmana. Rama’s father, King Dasharatha, one of the mightiest kings of his time, was helpless against the enemy within the family and paid for it with his life. Through it all, the exemplary qualities and values of Lord Rama – as a son and as a befitting prince of the prestigious Ikshvaku dynasty – stand out as the ideal for common men, then and now. Great transformations take place in our lives, if we adopt these valuable values.

About the album: This album has been compiled with the recordings of a 3-part online camp by Swami Ramakrishnananda on the Valmiki Ramayana, with references to Kamba Ramayanam, a Tamil epic that was written by the Tamil poet Kambar during the 12th century, that is based on Valmiki's Ramayana.

Speaker: Swami Ramakrishnananda, from Chinmaya Mission Nagapattinam, is a brilliant orator and teacher, who has spent several years studying Valmiki Ramayana in great detail and depth. Swamiji has conducted many camps and workshops on Valmiki Ramayana, enthralling, empowering and enlightening audiences around the world.
