Vedic Suktas Part 1

‘Veda’ means knowledge. The entire Vedic corpus is preserved by oral tradition, which renders it the name ‘shruti’. Indian Knowledge System has the Vedic corpus as its foundation. The 4 Vedas, 6 Vedangas, Purana, Dharmashastra, Nyaya and Mimamsa are collectively known as 14 vidyasthanas.

Prof. Gauri Mahulikar, Academic Director of CIF, introduces the participants to the 14 vidyasthanas, gives them a brief idea of the Vedic deities, expounds the Vedic suktas praising Agni, Indra, Varuna, Vishnu and Rudra, and explains the translations of these with various interpretations.

These lectures by Prof. Gauri Mahulikar were recorded during the online camp on ‘Vedic Suktas – Part 1’ jointly organised by Chinmaya International Foundation and Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth at Adi Sankara Nilayam in June 2021.
