Hymns that illuminate the wisdom of Vedic life and living 

The Atharva Veda (AV) occupies a distinctive place among the four Vedas for its comprehensive treatment of both spiritual ideals and everyday life. Its hymns encompass diverse themes ranging from personal welfare and social order to agriculture, architecture, governance, and inner peace.

This six-session webinar presents an in-depth study of six selected hymns that exemplify the breadth of Atharva Vedic thought. Participants will explore the

  • Abhivartamani Sukta (AV 1.29) – A prayer for success and accomplishment

  • Krishi Sukta (AV 3.17) – Celebrating agriculture as a sacred and life-sustaining activity

  • Salanirmana Sukta (AV 3.12) – Reflecting Vedic principles related to construction and habitation

  • Svapasuktam (AV 4.5) – A beautiful hymn invoking peaceful and restful sleep

  • Sankhamani Sukta (AV 4.10) – Associated with protection, health, and auspiciousness

  • Rajyabhishek Suktam (AV 4.8) – Which reveals the ideals of righteous kingship and responsible governance.

Through these hymns, participants will gain a deeper appreciation of Vedic language, symbolism, cultural values, and their enduring significance in understanding India’s intellectual and spiritual heritage.
