Chinmaya International Foundation (CIF) invites you for a webinar on An Introduction to Patanjali’s Yoga Darshana webinar facilitated by Dr. Veena Arun Londhe.

Yoga Darshana, though ancient in origin, is applicable to all irrespective of space and time. It is a teaching of human development and learning which has the capacity to change our life completely. It guides us to achieve a balanced state of mind, to explore tremendous capacity that lies hidden within each one of us and to get rid of pain and suffering.

With this aim in mind, the four paths mentioned in Yoga Darshana to reach the goal of Samadhi are explained in this webinar. These paths are meant for practitioners of differing temperament and capacity. Out of these, Ashtanga Yoga is explained in detail with the emphasis on Yama and Niyama which are normally neglected. Recent research in neuro-science is used to supplement the yoga sutras wherever possible. Kriyayoga and kleshas, Ishvarapranidhana and the causes of restlessness of mind, which prove to be hindrances on the chosen path, are explained in detail. The path of Abhyasa and Vairagya, meant for advanced practitioners, is explained with a brief sketch of Samkhya metaphysics. The 69 Sanskrit sutras are explained in detail with translation, meaning and suggested meaning also. The charts and diagrams are used to support the explanation.
