Shri Ramajatakam

A. R. Rājarāja Varma (1863–1918), renowned as the Kerala Pāṇini, was a distinguished scholar who made remarkable contributions to both Malayalam and Sanskrit learning. Deeply interested in Jyotiṣa (astronomy and astrology), he undertook serious studies under eminent teachers and explored both Indian and Western systems of calculation. Śrīrāmajātakam is a rare and valuable work in which he carefully examined the astrological aspects of Lord Rāma’s birth based on the Rāmāyaṇa. Completed in 1910, this manuscript demonstrates his keen research mind, mathematical skill, and devotion to truth. It also reflects Kerala’s enduring scholarly tradition in Jyotiṣa and stands as an important contribution to India’s scientific and cultural heritage.
