Panchadashi, the renowned composition of Sri Bharati Tirtha and Swami Vidyaranya, is a compendium of 15 foundational treatises or prakarana-granthas. This epic work is a singular treatise on the entire philosophy of Advaita Vedanta. By providing the complete grasp of the essentials of Vedanta, Panchadashi amply serves to dispel the ignorance of the Self.

In the 1st chapter, titled ‘Tattvaviveka-prakarana’, the author expounds the nature of the ultimate Reality realising which a seeker attains Liberation from bondage.

A total of 39 video sessions by Swami Advayananda divided into 11 lessons are made available to the registered participants.

The 1st chapter of Panchadashi starts methodologically with the explanation of an individual’s true Self to be sat-cit-ananda (Existence-Consciousness-Bliss). By elucidating the three states of awareness and the Self as their witness, it proceeds to systematically prove through logic and experience the Reality of the Self as being different from these three states.

The text thereafter explains the nature of the world that we perceive, the process of its creation and the ultimate Reality behind the world of names and forms. It then goes on to establish the identity of the ultimate Reality, the substratum of the world, and our own Self through the famous mahavakya “tat tvam asi.”

The chapter concludes with an explanation of the process of sravana, manana and nididhyasana through which we can realise the Self.
