Swami Advayananda was inspired by the teachings of the visionary saint Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda and joined Sandeepany Sadhanalaya, Mumbai, the Gurukula of the Chinmaya Mission, at the young age of 18. In 1992, on completing his Vedanta Course, he was blessed with Brahmacharya Diksha from Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda. In 2003, he was initiated into the sacred order of sannyasa by Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda. Presently, Swamiji serves as the President of Chinmaya International Foundation (CIF) and as a Trustee of Chinmaya Vishwa Vidyapeeth (CVV).
After initially serving the Chinmaya Mission Centres at Kodaikanal and Trichy, Swamiji guided the Spiritual and Cultural Education at the Chinmaya International Residential School (CIRS), Coimbatore, from 1996-2000. In 2000, he became Acharya of the Sandeepany Vidyamandir, Coimbatore, and conducted the Vedanta Course in Tamil–English. Since 2003, he has been serving at CIF as its President. He also served as the Acharya of the Vedanta Sadhaka Course at Adi Sankara Nilayam in 2021–22, and was the Resident Acharya for the 15th and 19th Vedanta Course at Sandeepany Sadhanalaya, Mumbai, during 2011–13 and 2024–26, respectively.
Devoted to the study and teaching of Vedanta, Swami Advayananda has authored several books including the Holy Gītā Ready Reference, The Gordian Knot of Self-effort and Destiny, and Home Study Courses such as the Advanced Vedanta Course, Master Gita Master Life Course™, and Vedanta Vijnana Course. He has co-edited works in English and Sanskrit including Ādi Śaṅkara – Finite to the Infinite, Sūktisudhā, and Home Study Courses such as the Foundation Vedanta Course, Bhagavad Gita Course and Upanishad Course. He has overseen the scholarly publication of the 2-volume work on the Brahmasūtra and played a pivotal role in the research and coordination of Upanishad Ganga, a television series depicting the wisdom of the Upanishads.
Swamiji continues to serve the vision of CIF and CVV in furthering the study, research and dissemination of Indian Knowledge Systems and their application in contemporary knowledge fields.
