The Upanishads, the Brahmasutra, and the Bhagavad Gita are the three basic texts of the Vedanta (Prasthanatraya). Brahmasutra authored by Sri Veda Vyasa expounds the principles of Advaita Vedanta by stringing together the major thoughts presented in the Upanishads. The detailed commentary by Sri Sankaracharya is invaluable for our understanding of the text. A clear understanding of the priceless concepts of Vedanta can be attained by studying the first four sutras, also known as the Chatuhsutri.
