    1. Conquest of desire :Wrong way:->External renunciation without Internal.Changing the hairstyle, colour of dress just to get food & respect from the society.->Keep on satisfying desires:Then during old age, even though there is no strength to express desires, desires remain.->Extreme Tapas:Denying essential things such as shelter, utensils & making the body suffer.->Being balanced , doing spiritual practices without knowledge:Fasting, pilgrimage, charity gives purity & focus of mind but until one gets Self knowledge , he has to keep on taking births.Right way :Satsang in company of seeker/Jnani, we see true happiness is not in the world (Pratipaksha bhavana) & Nisangathvam happens delusion goes away then we do Shravana,Manana, Nidhityasana about our nature then Nirmohatvam.2.Kasya sukham na karoti viragaha:When we desire anything,mind is tensed till we get it; then another desire arises again mind gets tensed.when we have vairagya – detachment from things there are no desires so mind is free & happy.3.Nandati Nandati NandatyevaIt refers to the state of Jnani.He is immersed in the bliss of Self.In any situation He is happy, while using body, mind or in samadhi;in the company of people or alone.

    1. Ladder of spiritual progress:Satsangatvam(Company of seeker/Jnani), then we see true happiness is not in the world (Pratipaksha bhavana) ->Nisangathvam now delusion goes away then we do Shravana,Manana, Nidhityasana about our nature ->Nirmohatvam after we are intellectually convinced about our true nature SatChitAnanda( I am not body,mind )then we absorb (Samadhi) in that truth ->Nischalatatvam after we are absorbed there is no individuality so freedom here and now->Jivanmukti then no desire so no birth Videhamukti.
    2. End of Samsara:When we get into Satsang , we see the temporary nature of world ,start enquiring & realise our true Self.When we see ourself as one with the universe , no individuality remains, so no desire-> no selfish action -> no results-> no birth to experience those results.Hence no samsara.
    3. When we analyse any object in universe , it is made of atoms then when we divide further it disappears only space remains.Also everything such as youth, wealth is temporary there is no guarantee that next moment it will be there.Even when world appears it can’t exist without consciousness.Like there is no lake without water.This temporary unreal world looking like real is मायमय.

    1.When we are young & have capacity to earn family respects.
    But when they feel we are not useful to them, they ignore us.
    So we should be alert even when they show affection & not get attached.
    Some of us may think my family is very good they will respect till death.
    Then after death even beloved members will get afraid by seeing the body.Value is for life not body-so we should shift the focus from body & realise who we are.
    2.The purpose of human birth is to get rid of sorrow permanently(liberation from birth & death).
    It is possible for only human through Self knowledge.
    Other things don’t remove our sorrow permanently.
    So this should be the main goal of life.
    In childhood focus is on playing, youth focus is on opposite gender & in old age focus is on worrying.
    Self knowledge is so important that we should not try to postpone it as there is no guarantee about life & when mind is used to worldly things it’s very difficult to pull back.
    3.All of our body is made up of earth,water ,fire,air & space.
    If we see beyond body as Jiva, we all take so many births.
    Many parents from all births.
    Still we say only this as ‘my’ family & wish them to act according to us.
    That’s why Samsara is vichitra.
    Our family is not our belonging but a place for evolution.

    Hari Om ji,

    Jnani doesn’t identify himself with body, mind, intellect.
    They act as an instrument of God.
    Does it mean they have zero freewill & everything in their life happens as per Prarabdha Karma?

    Hari Om ji,

    Doubt in lesson 9 Panchakosha

    It is said that koshas are subtler than & can control the previous one.
    So is it possible to cure the diseases of body using mind?

    Hari Om ji,

    Doubt in lesson 13

    Here Brahma is said as Ishwara with the power of creation.
    Sometimes Brahma is said as Jiva (everyone is subjected to birth & death from ant to Brahma )
    How to understand it ?

    Doubt in topic 4.2 Vasana cycle

    Is there any way to find out our Vasana & eliminate it even before it turns into desire ?

    The reflection question at the end of the video “What is the relation between Prarabdha karma & Vasana?”
    Our prarabdha( for this life) is based on predominant Vasanas of previous lives.
    We get the situations in life accordingly in order to exhaust these Vasanas.
    This can be reduced to some extent but not eradicated fully.
    -Is my understanding correct?

    • When the law of karma,Vasanas are beyond our memory(either this life or previous life) , how can they be justified?

    1. Sharing my idea on physical attraction towards opposite gender.For eg: If a woman is attracted to 30 yr old man.Keep on subtracting 10 yrs,Imagine how they looked at 20, then as 10 yr old boy,then as foetus inside mother’s womb.Or by adding 10 yrs upto 90 then after death body is burnt to ashes.Attraction is totally destroyed.The body is just disappearing & age is an illusion.We say only living body is beautiful not dead body.So true beauty is in life.

    2. Consciousness is everywhere , when it is manifested through mind which can reflect the consciousness , we say life exists.Stone has consciousness but no mind so no life.We have consciousness + life (because we have mind).

    3. Impermanency of life:There is no guarantee that we live next day.Even if we live upto 80 that also ends.Some of us may have felt on new year we have 1 full year, but in December we feel how this year has ended so soon.Therefore we should win over death. Only way is to realize our true nature that I am not body, mind.

    1. Only human can achieve the maximum which is realising our true nature -> freedom from the cycle of birth & death.We can control our thoughts & reflect on who is thinking which other beings like animals can’t do.
    2. Karmayoga dedicating the actions to God thereby converting them as worship of God.Bhaktiyoga focusing mind on God.Jnanayoga reflecting on who am I.We must have a combination of all 3 & one predominant among them based on whether we are very active person or emotional & compassionate or analytical.
    3. Giving up thirst for wealth means wealth should not be our aim.For self realisation , we need the body to sustain & basic necessities.So we should use our natural talent to earn wealth for our ‘NEED’ not desire.We should not compare with other’s talent or struggle over matters which we are not talented in.

    1.Illusion : common to all.
    Caused by external factors.
    Eg: pattern on kaleidoscope, mirage, blue sky.

    Delusion : specific to person.
    Caused by our mind.
    Eg: seeing ghost, hearing voices when alone.
    Biggest delusion : I am this individual( body, mind).

    2.Who am I:
    Which can’t be said as ‘this’.
    Which can’t be perceived or understood.
    Which is unchanging can’t be destroyed
    Who I am not:
    which can be said as ‘this’.
    which can be perceived or understood.
    which is subject to change & destruction.

    3.When old man was memorizing grammar, Bhagavan Shankaracharya composed this out of compassion.
    The dying old man was wasting precious human life on worldly things & not on God realisation.
    Here grammar= worldly goals without Higher purpose.
    The old man memorizing = anyone (all are dying) who has only worldly goals.

    4.Ignorance of real nature->thinking as individual- >desire for completion ->action(good& bad)->results(paapa&punya)->birth to experience the results->again ignorance & action…
    This unending cycle of birth & death is Samsara.

    Hari Om ji,

    Doubt in lesson 5.2 ‘Satyam’
    It means following & acting according to our intellectual convictions.
    It is said even if our convictions are wrong & we follow it, they will change over time.
    Will following wrong conviction not harm us?
    How to understand it?

    1.3 Human Heritage

    Problem: Can’t find happiness.
    Reason :No happiness in external objects because:
    same object does it give equal
    happiness to all.
    same object doesn’t give me happiness at all times.
    Solution: Happiness our own nature-
    (suppressed when desire present & expressed when desire satisfied.)
    Self restraint.
    Keep head above heart.
    Eg:beggar sitting on treasure box.
    Ocean shore : changing world ; ocean inside: unchanging reality;
    boat : who fall prey to senses;
    lighthouse :who are not influenced by senses;
    compass: Scriptures.

    1.4 Joy of Living

    Problem: We avoid sorrow & want happiness.
    But desire satisfaction reduces happiness.
    Reason: happiness = no. of desires fulfilled / no of desires entertained.
    When Numerator ↑ Denominator ↑ denominator ->0 happiness-> infinity.
    Solution: Focus on decreasing desires
    Keep higher goal.
    Eg: smoker cigarette joy reducing

    2.1 Inevitability of Action:

    Action is must & nobody can remain without action.
    Action is based on how we work NOT what work we do.
    Labourer/Vyavasayi:
    selfish desire;less focus & joy;no higher goal;
    motivated by desire.
    Worker/Sevakari:
    selfless desire;more focus & joy;higher goal;
    motivated by happiness.
    Person of Perfection/Gyani:
    no selfish/selfless desire;action done not for happiness but from happines.
    They are ever happy in Reality.

    2.2 Secret of Success:

    Problem:Work seems stressful & makes us tired.
    Reason:selfish work ->more fatigue & less joy.
    selfless work ->more joy & less fatigue.
    Solution:
    Vyavasayi -> sevakari->gyani.
    Go from self-family-society-God.
    Scriptures tell working for God Highest.
    Result:
    Achievement with joy;
    Dynamic action + calm mind.
    Eg: Krishna in Mahabharata War.
