Kaivalya Upanishad is a concise and luminous Upanishad that delineates the knowledge of Reality while placing special emphasis on the methodology of meditation – both saakaara (with form) and niraakaara (formless). Presented as a warm, instructive dialogue between Lord Brahma (the Teacher) and the Vedic sage Ashvalayana (the Student), the Upanishad points disciples toward faith (shraddha), devotion (bhakti) and sustained meditation (dhyana) as the living means to realise one’s true identity with the Supreme. Its approach is direct, intimate and deeply encouraging for seekers at every stage.
About the Series
Meditation, in the Upanishadic sense, is the effortless abidance in the Self. The preparatory practices and the subtle processes that lead to this abidance too are called meditation. In this Guided Meditation Series, Pujya Swami Swaroopananda, Global Head of Chinmaya Mission, shares authentic instructions drawn from the Kaivalya Upanishad – offering practical preparatory steps and the direct meditative method that gently lead seekers into the realm of effortless abiding.
While meditation is the primary doorway to the Supreme, modern science increasingly confirms its benefits for physical and mental well-being. The practice reshapes one’s outlook, reduces stress and anxiety, and fosters a steady, positive engagement with life. This series bridges classical Upanishadic wisdom and accessible guided practice, making the inner path both sacred and practicable.
