The Course has been authored by Pujya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda. Pujya Guruji is a master of Indian spiritual literature. He is a renowned teacher of Vedanta and an author of many commentaries as well as independent texts on Vedanta and Bhakti literature. This course indeed offers the crystallised, experiential wisdom and insightfulness of Guruji, in a style characterised by clarity, depth, and profundity couched in the comforting style of simplicity, compassion, and accessibility. It bears the same mark of understated elegance and excellence of which Pujya Guruji is a living embodiment.

Course Eligibility

Being an advanced study that demands a deeper understanding of Vedanta applicants will benefit well if they have been already introduced to Vedanta, or must have studied at least a few prakarana-granthas or basic texts of Vedanta. Since the Course is in English, the knowledge of Sanskrit is not a pre-requisite. A sincere longing for Truth is however a significant eligibility and nothing betters it!

Course Details

• The duration of the Upanishad Course Online is one year.
• The course comprises 24 lessons (@ 2 lessons per month) and a total of 24 questionnaires.
• Registered students will be provided access credentials and link to the online platform.
• You can register from our website. Once the payment is received your registration for the Course will be activated.
• Log in to the website and then access your Course through the ‘Enrolled Courses & Album’ Section.
• Study each lesson using the study material.
• Watch the video recording of the lesson and then submit your answers through the ‘Start Quiz’ option.
• All questions are objective and auto-graded by the system upon submission.
• Once your answers are submitted, you will be able to access the next set of lessons.
• Those who successfully complete the course will be given a ‘Course Completion Certificate’ of merit signed by Pujya Swami Swaroopananda, Head of Chinmaya Mission worldwide. The digital copy of the same will be sent to your registered email ID.
• Grading system for certification.
  • 80% and above ‘O’ Grade
  • 60% and above ‘A+’ Grade
  • 50% and above ‘A’ Grade
  • Below 50% ‘B’ Grade

Course Objectives and Rewards

We are able to see, hear, taste, smell and touch. What is that which makes this body, essentially inert, sentient? What makes our senses, mind and intellect function? Rarely we wonder and ask about this Cosmic Phenomenon that provides us with life and its many and varied gifts. Some rare individuals wonder and for them begins the journey towards the Self. The Upanishads reveal to us that in truth we are beyond life and death, good and bad; that we are the supreme Brahman, the highest Reality. Inclusive of all, excluding nothing, this ultimate Reality of life when realized through the triple means of shravana, manana and nididhyasana (listening, reflection and meditation) reveals the Self as source of all Bliss and Knowledge within. This Realization when once owned by us, even for a moment (sakṛd api), then there is no turning back to our old ignorant state of living. The entire universe becomes one’s own abode, and comes to be experienced as a glorious expression of the Self. Access to Lessons

In the Online mode, the lessons are to be downloaded from the website and answers should be submitted; followed by an online evaluation process. In addition, the students of the Online Mode will have access to the Video Recordings of each lesson which they can watch and learn simultaneously. Grades can be viewed online.

Home Study Course Scholarship Initiative

Envisioned to be a platform to impart knowledge, CIF has always made it a point to make the courses accessible to all the sincere seekers. Students, who are keen to pursue a particular course, but have difficulty affording the course fee, can send an email to the Director: homestudycourses@chinfo.org stating the same. They will be given financial assistance to enrol for the course based on the genuineness of request, keenness to study and eligibility.
