First Step into the Wisdom of the Gita
With the battlefield of Kurukshetra as its sacred setting, the Bhagavad Gita shines as a timeless dialogue between the human and the Divine. Yet, before one enters this profound scripture, there lies a doorway of understanding The Sacred Prelude: Gateway to the Gita. This introductory webinar gently opens that doorway, guiding seekers into the heart of the Gita through three foundational studies: Introduction to the Mahabharata, Gita Dhyanam and Gita Mahatmyam.
The Mahabharata, an epic of unparalleled scope, provides the narrative backdrop for the Gita. It unfolds the drama of Dharma, destiny and human struggle, culminating in the moment where Lord Krishna reveals the eternal wisdom of Self-knowledge to a bewildered Arjuna. Understanding this context allows one to approach the Gita not merely as philosophy, but as living guidance born of life’s most profound conflicts.
The Gita Dhyanam is the invocation traditionally chanted before studying the Gita. In its verses, seekers are taught the right attitude for scriptural study, reverence for the text, surrender to the Teacher and purity of intention. It transforms reading into worship and learning into meditation, preparing the mind to receive divine knowledge with humility and devotion.
Our tradition teaches Gita Mahatmyam before study to develop shraddha because only a person with shraddha gains true Knowledge.
