Taitriya upa_v2

The Taittiriya Upanishad, through three chapters, assists the seeker to ultimately realise the nature of the Self as core of the seeker himself of the nature of Existence, Consciousness and Bliss.

The different sections of the Upanishads can be classified as:

Shiksha-valli – outlining different types of upasanas (contemplative exercises) by which a student can purify and sharpen the inner equipment.

Brahmananda-valli – This section is the philosophical essence of the Upanishad, scientific and analytical. Attainment of Brahman is pointed out as the goal, which is the core of the seeker himself, and ultimately, this centre of the different concentric whirls of his own personality is brought within the cognition of the seeker, by making him realise fully each of the outer layers of matters around him. One by one these outer layers are transcended and the individual is ultimately made aware of the innermost essence.

Bhrigu-valli – This section deals with the practical application of the philosophical theories propounded in the earlier sections. The section emphasises the need for constant enquiry and consistent meditation for a student to enjoy guaranteed success on the path of Vedanta.

Sri Anant Sarma, a Sevak at Chinmaya International Foundation, is offering a webinar-based study of this Upanishad.
