  निश्चयात्मिका बुद्धिः ।
  अहंकर्ता अहंकारः ।
  चिन्तनकर्तृ चित्तम् ।
  
  Which of these does imagination? Is it Chitta?
  Which does analysis? Is it Buddhi?

  The manas or mind does imagination (sankalpa).
  The buddhi does ascertainment or coming to a conclusion.
  The ahankara is the ‘I-sense’
  The citta is that part of the mind that recollects thoughts (memory).
